Trapped Nerve Treatment

Many conditions can cause nerves to become compressed, including overuse, arthritis, injury, repetitive work, or a slipped disc. If the pain is in the wrist, several issues can press on the nerve, causing carpel tunnel syndrome. We can help you to find relief from these issues.

Manual therapy involves hands-on techniques to assess, diagnose, and treat musculoskeletal conditions. It aims to reduce pain, improve joint mobility, restore function, and enhance overall physical well-being.

Electrotherapy

Electrotherapy physiotherapy services utilise electrical currents and modalities to treat and rehabilitate musculoskeletal conditions. These specialist therapies involve the application of electrical stimulation to targeted areas of the body, aiming to reduce pain, promote tissue healing, improve muscle strength and range of motion, and enhance overall functional recovery. Standard electrotherapy techniques include transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), ultrasound therapy, electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), and interferential current therapy (IFT).

Hand Therapy

Hand therapy is a specialised branch of rehabilitation that focuses on evaluating and treating conditions affecting the hands, wrists, and upper extremities. Hand therapists, typically occupational or physical therapists, possess advanced knowledge and skills to address various requirements, including fractures, tendon injuries, nerve disorders, arthritis, and post-surgical rehabilitation. They utilise techniques such as therapeutic exercises, custom splinting, manual therapy, and ultrasound and electrical stimulation modalities. Hand therapy aims to restore optimal hand function, reduce pain, promote healing, and enhance independence in daily activities.

Taping

Taping is commonly used as an adjunct or temporary technique. Athletes often make use of taping as a protective mechanism in the presence of an existing injury. Some of the goals with taping are to restrict the movement of injured joints, as well as soft tissue compression to reduce swelling. Taping is used as one of the means of rehabilitation or prophylaxis in instances where support and stability are needed, as a first-aid tool, for the prevention of injury, and for the protection of an injured anatomical structure while healing is taking place
